When My Kids Became Toy Engineers

As a mom of three, I’m used to the usual store-bought toys—action figures that get unboxed, played with for ten minutes, and then abandoned in favor of a tablet or TV. So, when my kids asked me for a Pago action figure, I didn’t expect much. But what happened next completely blew me away!

My 13 year-old son and two twin daughters aged 9 were sitting around a table, laser-focused on assembling paper pieces into their very own toys. I watched in amazement as they followed assembly instructions like mini-engineers—each of them determined to create something uniquely theirs. You could almost see the gears turning in their heads as they figured out how each piece clicked together.

And once the building part was done, I expected them to lose interest. But no—now came the coloring! Armed with paintbrushes and markers, my kids’ imaginations kicked into overdrive. My boy created a Spider-Man like-warrior, and my girls painted so concentratedly in gold and bronze.  For hours, they were completely entertained, adding details and discussing their characters' backstories.

There’s something magical about watching your kids pour their personalities into a creation they built from scratch. Unlike pre-made toys, which have a set look and feel, these action figures became an extension of their creativity, their identities. And let me tell you, the pride they felt holding up their finished figures? Nothing compares to that. They didn’t just have toys; they had characters.

They’ve played with their Pago’s for days now, each time telling a new story with superpowers and even villainous plotlines brewing. Moral of the story? Skip the pre-packaged toys every now and then. Let your kids dive into The World of Imago’s DIY project, giving them that "I am the master of my tiny universe" feeling.  You might just be surprised by how focused and entertained they become at building, painting, and creating memories.

(FYI- The above is a theoretical mom based on the real experiences and compilations of feedback received from many parents during our build events and product demos. We encourage you to share your stories with us).
